2023 GMC Canyon: a nice surprise on the menu

Over the past few weeks, GMC has presented the new generation of its Canyon pickup truck. We had an idea of what to expect, since the Colorado cousin was previously unveiled by Chevrolet.

However, we were treated to a nice surprise, as well as discovering a model full of qualities. Here's what the GMC Canyon will look like in 2023.

The versions

First, let's take a look at the versions that will arrive in early 2023 (the model will be launched in January 2023).

Initially, we will find four variants: Elevation, AT4, Denali and AT4X. The first two will offer a complete equipment, but a little less rich. For example, the screen of the multimedia system will be 8 inches instead of 11. What will be the same, however, is the powertrain under the hood. All versions will benefit from the most convincing configuration of the 2.7-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which offers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This will allow towing of 7700 pounds. An eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard across the lineup.

Unique configuration

One thing that has been simplified with the new generation is the possible combination of cabs and transmissions. It's simple, we decided to go with what was most popular, a crew cab, as well as a short box. No bickering!

The AT4X version

The big news is the arrival of a new variant called AT4X. In fact, this one is a step up from the AT4, which already has features that make it more competent for off-road driving.

With the AT4X version, you'll be able to go even further off the beaten path. The AT4X comes with 33-inch off-road tires, a 36.9-degree front wheel angle, and locking differentials that make it easier to get over certain obstacles.

In addition, this AT4X model will take advantage of different driving modes, including Baja, for those who enjoy high-speed off-road driving. And know that buying an AT4X livery gives you access to the ultimate in equipment. The model comes with head-up display, wireless access to Apple CarPlay and Androit Auto, a premium audio system, and a system with 10 cameras, including one under the vehicle.

The Canyon is also going to offer some interesting new features, like a waterproof storage bin inside the bed.

Truly, this is a much-improved pickup truck that's coming to us in early 2023. Make sure you don't miss out on its grand return.
